Abstract Customers want fast checkout devices. Retailers are searching for ways to improve retail store checkout devices. This analyze compared the cashier checkout and the electronic selfcheck out systems. Info for this study were collected by observations of checkout processes by Wal-Mart Extremely Centers in the Jackson, Mississippi, area. Developed research queries were statistically tested utilizing the independent samples t-tests and the chihuahua square test for freedom. Results of these analyses demonstrated that buyers preferred the cashier
checkout system for the electronic self-checkout system, although shoppers also want to learn how to use the new self-checkout technology. Further studies had been suggested on methods of launching new Stage of Sales technology to consumers, and ways to support managers compare costs of checkout systems.
